This Week In Marketing: Instagram Launches New Creator Lab

Instagram continues to invest in creators. Last week the platform announced its new initiative to help creators get a better understanding of posting best practices via its new Creator Lab. The Creator Lab will host videos and insights from various creators and successful brand owners to shed light on key elements that helped them grow on the platform.

What do businesses need to know?

According to Social Media Today, the Creator Lab includes specific sections on Instagram growth tips, monetization, safety notes and more. The Labs will be all hosted by established and successful Instagram influencers. “Each section includes a range of video clips, which, while short, include helpful notes on strategy and optimization.

As Instagram combats the rise of TikTok, monetization and creator growth continues to be a focus for the platform. So, if you’re looking to maximize your Instagram performance, the new Creator Lab is worth a look, especially since it’s being taught by reputable creators who have built large engagement and following on their own.

Beginning March 14 Russia will ban Instagram. According to Adam Mosseri, Head of Instagram, “this decision will cut 80 million in Russia off from one another, and from the rest of the world as approximately 80% of people in Russia follow an Instagram account outside their country.”

The Instagram ban comes one week after Russia placed a ban on Facebook, as the government claimed that Facebook’s parent company, Meta, directed moderators to allow posts calling for violence against Russian soldiers.
