This Week In Marketing: TikTok Confirms 10 Minute Video Uploads Are Coming & More
TikTok is starting to roll out the ability for users to upload videos up to 10 minutes in length. The expanded video length will give creators more time and flexibility when filming things like cooking demos, beauty tutorials, educational content, comedic sketches and more.
What do businesses need to know?
This announcement makes TikTok even more of a competitor to Youtube. According to TechCrunch, hosting short videos isn’t TikTok’s only advantage, as it’s known for its combination of features, including its library of special effects, AR tools and music catalog. Other popular features include stitches and duets, which allow creators to collaborate with other users’ content.
“We’re always thinking about new ways to bring value to our community and enrich the TikTok experience. Last year, we introduced longer videos, giving our community more time to create and be entertained on TikTok,” a spokesperson from TikTok said in a statement.
In other news, Instagram launched automated captions for Feed Videos. This means, Instagram users will now be able to switch on auto-captions for any Instagram feed post, providing another way to expand your consumption options in the app.
Auto-captions have been one of the most requested features among the Instagram community. Adding captions makes Instagram more accessible to those who are hard-of-hearing.
It also helps creators maximize viewership in both sound on and sound off environments, which will allow content to reach more users and have more viewing capacity.
