This Week In Marketing: Instagram Launches Algorithm-Free Feed Option and more.
Instagram has officially launched its algorithm-free, chronological feed option to all users. Users will now have two new Instagram feed options to choose from to control their main content display: Favorites and Following.
What do businesses need to know?
'Favorites' displays the latest posts from up to 50 accounts that you've added to your 'Favorites' lists. According to the Instagram blog, people are not notified when they are added or removed. Posts from accounts on your favorites list will also show up higher on your IG home screen and will display a star icon.
'Following' shows posts from all accounts that you follow in the app, as per regular Instagram feed. Both the new 'Favorites' and 'Following' feeds will show you posts in chronological order, as they are posted.
Instagram reports to be working on new ways to improve the platform experience stating, “we'll continue to build features like Favorites and Following to give you more choice and control over what you see, and help make the time you spend on the app feel more intentional.”
In other news…
As inflation continues to add to consumer woes, businesses and brands looking to engage consumers during this difficult time should not just be focused on increasing value.
According to Marketing Dive, no matter their size, brands must continue tweaking their messaging to resonate with consumers whose plans for a return-to-normal are being upended by inflation, international war and continuing pandemic concerns.
Businesses should not assume that their only response to this inflationary moment has to be to cut prices. Business owners should think about ways in which you can offer a sense of security over the long run.
